الملخص
يقدم البحث خلفية تاريخية موجزة لمراحل استقلال وقيام جمهورية اليمن الديمقراطية الشعبية والتغيرات المتسارعة التي شهدتها في التركيبة السياسية للجمهورية والتقسيمات الإدارية وأشكال السلطة التشريعية والتنفيذية والحقبة التي حكمتها في ظل الصراعات التي مرت بها هذا البلد الوليد العهد، كما سلط الضوء على مجالات التطور والنهوض الاقتصادي والاجتماعي والثقافي والإعلامي والعسكري والتفاعل مع دول الجوار وبقية دول العالم في مرحلة سياسية حرجة من التوترات والاستقطابات التي لا مفر منها بين المعسكرين الغربي والشرقي والذي ازدهرت به بالتدريج منذ حصولها على الاستقلال في 1967م، وحتى تلاشيها والاندماج في الدولة الجديدة بإعلان الوحدة اليمنية 1990م.

Abstract
The research presented a brief historical background to the stages of the independence and establishment of the People’s Democratic Republic of Yemen and the rapid changes it witnessed in the political structure of the republic, administrative divisions, forms of legislative and executive authority and the era it ruled in light of the conflicts experienced by this nascent country. It also sheds light on the areas of economic, social and cultural development and advancement and. In addition, the media and military, and interaction with neighboring countries and the rest of the world, in a critical political phase of tensions and polarizations, which are inevitable between the western and eastern camps. Which gradually developed since it gained independence in 1967, and until its disappearance and integration into the new state with the declaration of Yemeni unity in 1990.
