الملخص
إن دراسة التاريخ الأوربي عموماً والتاريخ الايرلندي بشكل خاص, له أهمية كبيرة ليس على المجتمع الأوربي فحسب، بل تعداه إلى المجتمعات الأخرى، ويعود ذلك إلى ما أفرزته الأحداث الايرلندية من نتائج انعكست بشكل مباشر وغير مباشر على المسيرة التاريخية لشعوب العالم بأسره، ويبدو الأمر أكثر وضوحاً عندما اصبح التحول الأوربي السياسي والاقتصادي والثقافي والاجتماعي مقدمة لازمة للتحولات في العالم، كما كان للعديد من الأحداث الأوربية صدى عميق ومباشر على المجتمعات الشرقية وليس أدل على ذلك من موقف الملك جيمس الثاني من القضية الايرلندية وما تبعها من تداعيات داخل أوربا وخارجها، والتي شكلت كما صورها البعض انعطافاً تاريخياً كبيراً اذ تعد معركة بوين التي حدثت في الأول من تموز/يوليو 1690 من المعارك المصيرية في تاريخ إيرلندا بشكل خاص وتاريخ الملك جيمس الثاني بشكل عام حيث كانت المعركة مصيريه عند الملك جيمس الثاني وذلك لعدة اعتبارات أهمها الجانب الديني لذلك تم اختيار هذه الدراسة لتوضيح المشاكل والازمات التي مرت بإيرلندا نتيجة الصراع الديني الاوربي.
